2015 has definitley been the best year of my life so far, I went abroad for the first time without my parents, completed sixth form and got my A Level results, went on another amazing cruise, started university and started my last year of being a teenager. So here are the 6 top reasons as to why 2015 was so amazing for me.
6: Concerts
Going to concerts is one of my favourite things to do and this year I was lucky enough to see 5 of my favourite bands live. In February I travelled to Manchester to see All Time Low and You Me At Six on their co-headline tour, in June I saw 5 Seconds of Summer live for the 5th time in Leeds and in October I saw Fall Out Boy in Leeds and then later One Direction for the 4th time in Sheffield. All of the concerts were amazing and hopefully in 2016 I'll get to see many more of my favourite bands live.
5: Finishing sixth form and getting my A Level results
In June I finished my last A Level exam and was officially done with sixth form forever (thank fuck A Levels were the worst thing I have ever done). I was so relieved to have finished them and on the 19th of June we got to celebrate finishing our exams at our Year 13 prom (we won't talk about how drunk I got but lets just say the night ended with me sat with my head in the toilet emptying the contents of my stomach). Then in August I recieved my A Level results in which I got an A in History, a B in English Language and a C in German. I was incredibly happy as these results were good enough to secure me a place at my first choice uni to study Primary Education. For me and my friends the only way to celebrate getting into uni was a night out at Welly and once again the night ended with me sat by the toilet, whoops.
4: 19th Birthday
At the begininning of December I started my last year of being a teenager ;( and turned 19. Thanks to my flatmates and all my friends at uni I had the most amazing day and night out the following Friday. I was spoilt rotten by my family and friends and received so many lovely presents, my flatmates even made me a really nice cake! I spent my birthday evening at Arc in Headingley where me and the girls from my flat had a lovely meal and a few too many cocktails. Then on the Friday after my birthday I had my birthday night out. I can't remember a great deal of the night due to me consuming a ridiculous amount of alcohol but all my friends and flatmates came to predrink at my flat before we all headed out to Pryzm (why always Pryzm?). Even though I can remember a maximum of half an hour of the night I had a brilliant time and I was so happy that so many of my closest friends came out to celebrate with me.
3: Ibiza
In July I flew to Ibiza with two of my friends and therefore went abroad without my parents for the first time. The week away basically consisted of sunbathing my the pool in the day then going out and consuming a large amount of alcohol on the nights. My favourite parts of the holiday included the Holi Garden Festival and going to the super clubs Amnesia and Eden. The week was amazing and I look forward to more parent free holidays with my friends in the future.
2: Cruise
At the end of July I went on my 14th cruise with my parents, my auntie and uncle and my cousin Tom. On our cruise we travelled to Lisbon in Portugal, Casablanca in Morocco, Gibraltar and Malaga, Cadiz and Vigo in Spain. I had the most incredible week as I got to visit some amazing places and I met a brilliant group of people who will definitley be friends for life. I'm very excited for my 15th cruise that is booked for August 2016!
1: Starting University
The main reason as to why 2015 has been so great is that on the 20th September I moved to Leeds to start university. I was incredibly nervous about moving to a new city and meeting new people but thankfully I was blessed with an amazing set of flatmates so the move was a lot easier than expected. My first 3 months at university basically consisted of me destroying my liver by going out on average 3 times a week and drinking way too much but that's what uni's all about, isn't it? Living away from home and having to cook and clean for myself has also been interesting, I've become a pro at taking chicken nuggets out of the packet and putting them in the oven and I've also got pretty good at managing to wash my plate up in a sink that's pilled high with everyone else's dirty plates but once again that's just uni life. I'm so thankful to have made such wonderful friends and they're all definitley friends that will stay good friends forever. I can't wait to go back to Leeds in January as I miss everyone way too much and I'm definitley having withdrawl symptoms from nights out in Leeds.
I can't wait to see what 2016 will have in store for me! Thank you for reading!
Love Jess x
